Amazing book

One of the most edible books that has ever entertained my soul. I feel this is a must read for anyone curious about the human body, or anyone just looking for a good read. The book is more a novelty of human curiosity rather than a manual of anatomy or hellerwork of any sort (which is what I had in mind when i bought it) but I urge anyone and everyone to indulge.

Still valuable information on use of the body

This book was originally written in 1986 by Joseph Heller who developed Hellerwork his own form of releasing the fascia to correct the bodies integration from the system originally developed by Ida Rolf. You can find Hellerwork practitioners in the UK (as well as Rolfers, but his book also includes influences from Reich
However, even with all the books written since 1986, this book serves as a good introduction to posture and the use of the body whatever bodywork discipline you are interested in, and his chapter that describes how the body is a tensegrity structure where it is the tension between the bones, rather than the bones themselves that gives us up is I think important reading.
A Hellerwork (or Rolfing) course is about 10 weeks going systematically from the feet to the head freeing the fascia or connective tissue.
In the book describes the tensions we hold there and how it should work properly.
I would say that this book is essential to getting the most out of a Hellerwork or Rolfing course as my experience is that while they go through the deep massage in the session to release the fascia they do not explain what they are doing or how it si supposed to work correctly.

The Mind-Body Connection Explained
I learned a lot about my body from reading this book, especially why I get stuck. The connection between what I think or believe and how it manifests in my body couldn't be better explained. It was a real eye opener. I also enjoyed the practical suggestions for getting aligned and balanced, particularly undulation, one of my favorite exercises.
